The hivemind regenerates its standard size hull as Zebra says, but if the cage is larger than that, nothing will happen at world load.The time when the hivemind is punching a hole through a reinforced wall is when:1) It can't grow anywhere else.2) It has been feeding for a while storing a certain amount of growth.That being said, I also have a decent sized hole in my cage guared with loads of ablators and liquifiers. That way I can have a look at my operations to spot any problems.

This is my setup, first one is power gen by turbines just outside, saidly I can't show the inside as it is quite well grown at this moment. But basicly I have a lot of ablators and liquifiers inside and transporting resin out. Having ablators outside the box works just as well.The second picture is from an old base, but showcases a mattermover transmitting 'food' through the eye. The hivemind will prioritise enclosing the eye as soon as it can. The 'food' is then transported down to a depth where mynocks may grow. As food I use an ore that happens to be close.

I'm guessing that if you keep feeding it large amounts and not ablating (fast enough), the hive will eventually break out of any box you build.Being the idiot that i am, i almost got consumed by my very first hivemind at the surface. So making sure it doesn't get fed anymore when it reaches a certain size would be my advice.
