I could use some general tips for Paladog. Things such as:what’s the best mace, or the best way to use each mace?When/how should I upgrade units? Should I save the $ and only unlock new units, or upgrade a little bit at a time?Is there an easy way of dealing with those bleeping ghosts? I either have to back up (to weaken them for the following units) or try to survive without any reinforcements for a while. What’s the best tactic to stave off early enemies while you’re waiting for food and mana to max out? You should have no problem with the first 2 “worlds” by simply maxing the archer bunny. Upgrade aura that increases # of times your units trigger the bonus action and spam bunny.
The bonus action = fire arrows, will knock back enemies making the ghost not really relevant or in danger of slipping past the front line. There’s really no use for the maces least not for me so far but i’m stuck on 2-21 which is the 5 lines of defense type stage. But i think my idea is consistent with what others are doing as you can see in the comments of the game there are a lot of mentions like broken “2” key or only need bunny to win. I’ve finished most stages within 2 mins by bunny spam. The only downside to this is you dont really get a lot of money/gold as reward is based on how many monsters you kill and not how fast you beat the stage.
Until near the end, bunnies still work well, but you may need to add some turtles & other melee to assist. This is quite important against certain bosses (who will come back as regular enemies at later levels). Add Penguins to your bunnies; they freeze enemies within your aura (perfect for heavy tanks that protect the others behind it – still won’t cause a lot of problems with piercing arrows though).Near the end, when I maxed most stuff, I went for a mix of dragon & penguins (still adding bunnies from time to time), also I switched my fist mace to the fire mace.Lastly, another style so you can spam those bunnies, is to upgrade your mana, get the food mace, and spam it. Aside from the boss levels, spamming the bunny worked for every level for me. The maces I like the most were the fist, the meteor, and the ice one. Spam the fist when you’re near max mana, and when a huge wave of monsters come, spam the meteor.
I didn’t use the ice one much until the last few levels to freeze enemies that could kill me in one hit. Is there an easy way of dealing with those bleeping ghosts?I just stood behind the rabbits, and when it disappeared, take a step forward, then it’d reappear practically in the same spot.Originally posted by.zen0(/forums/3/topics/274971?page=1#posts-5917937):. you should have no problem with the first 2 “worlds” by simply maxing the archer bunny. Upgrade aura that increases # of times your units trigger the bonus action and spam bunny.Upgrading that aura would be definately easier if the game let you pick a skill to upgrade. In my current game it didn’t show up until level 38 by randomly choosing other 3 skills. So I had picked mana-cost reduction 3x, mana regen a few times, maces and used a nifty lvl 7 lightning bolt mace. I used a lot of tortoises my first time through the game when I played on normal difficulty, but I went back again on hard and hardly used any. I just found kangaroos and rhinos to be much more useful than a pure defense unit that never attacks.
Optimizing unit mixes is more important on hard. Similarly, I hardly used bears at all, kangaroos are just as tough but do several times as much damage, and move faster.I found food production to be vital. Except when grinding easy levels for gold I always use a food ring and food mace, and always upgrade food production skill whenever it is offered. You also want to take the upgrade that lets you summon units faster (leadership?) whenever it is offered (even over food production), this is helpful for archer spam but vital for mouse spam when you face the duck (see below).I have found the ice glen (the third page of missions) to be particularly challenging.
The first few ice glen missions spam ghosts at you. This wasn’t a big issue on normal, but on hard they are a real pain. I had rhinos unlocked at that point, but found them nearly useless, as the ghosts would ignore them and fly right past them. Pure archer spam didn’t work well either, archers are only really effective in the aura, inevitably a few ghosts get by and decimate my reinforcements.
I found the best mix was a combination of archers and kangaroos. Most ghosts would stop at the kangaroo front line and let the main group of archers and kangaroos kill them. Apparently the ghosts are programmed to find kangaroos tastier than rhinos or something. Adding an occasional kangaroo to the stream of reinforcement archers allowed the reinforcements to deal with leaker ghosts. The final ice glen mission, 3-24, has the famous duck. In my normal difficulty game I spent a ridiculous amount of time stuck on that level. The duck eats any unit it attacks in one shot, no matter how tough.
The first part of the level, until the duck spawns, is a pretty standard fight but beating the duck is amazingly difficult. He can’t be frozen, can’t be knocked back.
Cooking tales game. I finally figured out the key is to summon a stream of mice; the duck’s attack speed is a little slow, so with proper gear and upgrades you can summon mice faster than he can eat them. I added an occasional monkey bomber to my reinforcement stream to deal with the hordes of normal units the duck summons behind him. I tried to keep the duck poisoned with a poison mace and used a meteor mace to help deal with the normal units.
I also fully upgraded my mice, which doesn’t actually take all that much gold by ice glen standards. After defeating the duck the rest of my normal difficulty game was pretty much a walkthrough.
I have not yet faced the duck in my hard difficulty game.
