I've played some games with dub, and sometimes the voice actor that they pick has the voice that really, really does not go well with the character. One of the example — I know you might hate me for this — is Neptunia series. Compared to the Japanese Voice acting, those Japanese VAs were able to convey the character out more than the EN VAs. I listened to, say, Neptune, and was like 'I don't really think her voice should be like this, given her character.' However, not all of them are bad though. For example, Atlus did a great job on Persona series. I don't miss Japanese voice acting for one bit on that, as those voice actors has done a really great job on their role.Anyway, it pretty much comes down to expectations as well. I followed a lot of Japanese games and watch their trailers, so it feels foreign to me when I hear those voice.

If I didn't, maybe I might have a different opinion. Who knows. So tl;dr: Dub sometimes does not fit the character, and kill the enjoyment.

Having JP voice acting means that if original VA were shit, it will still be shit, not worse.
