The Shield Machine - Entrance Room

Walk over to the controls with the clown face on them and use the clown key. The clown key will unlock the shield machine behind the controls. The shield machine will move out and the entrance (yellow door) will be up the right set of stairs. After stepping into the first room, break the item box then pick up the Grenade, two Med Injectors, Incendiary Grenade and Shotgun Ammo on the crates and cylinders before entering the room up the steps.

Get rid of the clown key: After using the clown key on the controls in order to unlock the shield machine, Chris can store the clown key in the item box to save on inventory space. You won’t need the key anymore.

The Shield Machine - Storage Room

Since you’ve been building up so much shotgun ammo, go ahead and use it is your primary weapon in the next room and load your RAMROD ammo into the handgun. Lucas will speak as Chris enters the dark room ahead. Chris will face three waves of enemies in the room. Go ahead and rush forward and grab the RAMROD ammo on the crate to the left (below the stairs).

Wave 1: The first wave is composed of basic Molded. Shoot them in the head and run up to melee any stunned Molded. Eventually an Explosive Molded will spawn. The final wave ends with a Fumer, so have the RAMROD ammo ready in the handgun. It’s best to stand with your back to the entrance door for this wave.

Wave 2: This wave starts with 4-Legged Molded and will have a mix of normal Molded and 4-Legged Molded throughout the wave. A Fumer will spawn at the end of the wave. Standing with your back to the entrance door will work for this wave, but it might be a good idea to move into the middle area at times.

Wave 3: The third wave is composed of two Fat Molded that are also Fumers, so you’ll have to shoot them with RAMROD ammo – one of them will fall with one shot but the other one will take two RAMROD shots. One of the Fat Molded will break through the crate that blocks the stairs in the back of the area, so be sure to run up the stairs and break the two item crates and collect the Shotgun Ammo and RAMROD ammo at the top.

Lucas will talk to Chris through his helmet. A voice will start a countdown before too long. Chris must search the small gratings on the bottom floor of the room in order to get out of the room before it burns. It seems that the grating near the entrance doorway (to the left of the steps) is always the correct grating to choose. There are also two other gratings (one below the top of the stairs and one to the left of the bottom of the stairs) in the back of the room but they do not seem to open.

The Shield Machine - Other Side of the Machine

Hop into the area below the floor and follow the air duct to the vent cover at the other end then remove it and fall to the walkway below. Chris will hop out to a dark area below the shield machine and he will turn on his night vision. Follow the trail up ahead then open the double doors.
