  The advantages heavily outweigh the disadvantages. To put it into perspective, every single above average player in this game uses Black Kat. The poor ones use Chaos, but the long and short is that these sets give you the power to kill things before said things become a problem.

  The fact that they give damage to every weapon type is what makes it stupid strong. Personally, I think it needs to get nerfed, but Grey Havens is way past that now. Just take a peak at literally every Horse in Haven as well and they all don Black Kat usually. Worse case scenario, you mash dash to lose aggro and wait out the status or just pop a remedy.

Bombers, I\'m not sure of as I\'ve had no experience with them, onto the weapons: for swords I\'d suggest high damage and high asi swords like any of the brandish line, if you want to be a heavy hitter, try the sealed sword lines and the troika lines, mix and match your favorites, for guns I would highly recommend the iron slug and any Antigua or Pulsar line of your choice (and blitz needle for vana) personally, the elemental line would benefit the best but moving on, if you want to be a hybrid, again chaos or black kat is best, along with a brandish line and blitz needle. Now the shields: Get a grey owlite shield for all purpose use or a swiftstrike buckler for swords, If you\'re feeling daring, don\'t equip a shield and slap on some DOOM soundtracks, you\'ll be the horror.

Not 100% sure but if you go guardian I think you get max with everything before trinkets but if you need a trinket to get max prioritised charge time reduction and then get a penta heart pendant.If you go gunner just get the shadowsun set. What I did for weapons was prisma and umbra driver with damage trinket for max and penta heart pendant. Having your weapons fully heated is also super important it doesnt seem like much but especially the jump from level 7 to level 10 gives a huge dps spike.Edit: OK I thought you meant best set for lockdown lol.

The fact that they give damage to every weapon type is what makes it stupid strong. Personally, I think it needs to get nerfed, but Grey Havens is way past that now.

  Just take a peak at literally every Horse in Haven as well and they all don Black Kat usually. The set is worth 35-45k energy for a clean set for a reason.As for the negative resists, they might become a problem since you\'re new, but you\'ll quickly learn to not get into those situations. Worse case scenario, you mash dash to lose aggro and wait out the status or just pop a remedy. Honestly, remedies are so overpowered that you never need to have fear in Chaos/BK, on the small chance you are actually hit. In Spiral Knights, a strong offense is the best defense.

  Bombers, I\'m not sure of as I\'ve had no experience with them, onto the weapons: for swords I\'d suggest high damage and high asi swords like any of the brandish line, if you want to be a heavy hitter, try the sealed sword lines and the troika lines, mix and match your favorites, for guns I would highly recommend the iron slug and any Antigua or Pulsar line of your choice (and blitz needle for vana) personally, the elemental line would benefit the best but moving on, if you want to be a hybrid, again chaos or black kat is best, along with a brandish line and blitz needle. Now the shields: Get a grey owlite shield for all purpose use or a swiftstrike buckler for swords, If you\'re feeling daring, don\'t equip a shield and slap on some DOOM soundtracks, you\'ll be the horror.

  Mercurial demo can be better than black kat in the right context. Full BK will also push you past the damage cap for swords with the striker shield in lockdown. But, both sets are pretty far off from chaos obtainability wise. If you aren\'t using chaos use something that improves your weapons.Electron charge with any penetrating attack is usually considered a good combo for killing things quickly (magnus type charge, brandish type charge, etc). Shivermist makes the game easy but undermines grav bombs such as the aforementioned electron.

  Blitz needle is the best weapon for vanaduke and at least the second-best weapon for firestorm citadel itself. The dark version of it is probably the best weapon for royal jelly/roarmulus twins, who resist piercing. Mix/orbitgun is the best weapon in the game but takes millions of crowns to obtain.

  Best bomber set is: mad bomber set with nitrome+ash of agni+voltaic tempest(although this one triggers people the most). Nitrome is obviously the easiest to string and ash of agni has high dps with the fire effect especially when people use black kat. Not 100% sure but if you go guardian I think you get max with everything before trinkets but if you need a trinket to get max prioritised charge time reduction and then get a penta heart pendant.If you go gunner just get the shadowsun set. What I did for weapons was prisma and umbra driver with damage trinket for max and penta heart pendant. Having your weapons fully heated is also super important it doesnt seem like much but especially the jump from level 7 to level 10 gives a huge dps spike.Edit: OK I thought you meant best set for lockdown lol. For regular play my first 5.

  set was Snarby helm + Showsun slicker + Divine avenger + Polaris + Aegis. It\'s descent you can do pretty good on most levels with this setup imo. Recommendations are somewhat different because you\'re new - you\'ll have a rough time of it going for Chaos/Black Kat sets.

  Sets depend much more on which weapons you favour, as well as how much you\'re willing to grind. The theme is usually to pick armour for its offensive boosts, because it\'s pretty expensive to make a set for each element and the boosts do make a difference when stacked up.If you prefer swords:.look up the Wolver set (2.) and lines for a damage bonus. At 5. the easily-attainable variants are Skolver (more of the same - always a solid choice) and Vog Cub (attack speed boost over attack damage - better for slow swords or shield play).A good all-around defensive set at 5. would split Skolver with (I think?) Miracle gear, a 5.

  Magic set piece, for some defense against every element, a good set of status resistances, and a useful +2 sword damage boost.I\'d recommend defensive shields with matched elements - so a Shadow shield against Shadow enemies, etc - because they really do make a difference. One way to go about it with only two shields would be the Skelly and Drake Scale lines (the latter starts at 3.).If you\'re set on one shield, either splash out for the boss shield recipes for the Bristling Buckler line (reasonable defense, sword damage boosts) or, if you feel like learning to dodge real fast in the endgame, the 3. Swiftstrike Buckler, which offers amazing offensive boosts but caps at 3. for very poor defensive stats in Tier 3. Don\'t grab just one high-health defensive shield (Plate) and stick with it, because you won\'t get much out of it compared to an off-element shield.Weapons: the cheapest easy route through the game would involve a Normal-damage sword and an Elemental handgun. Normal swords are pretty well viable but won\'t stand up to element-matched swords in terms of sheer power.
